Opposite Ferey'ck, or Ferey'g, is a chain of mountains, which, for the space of about a mile, or more, lie close along the bank of the river. In two prominences of these mountains the two magnificent temples of Ab'oo Sim'bil or Absem'bel are excavated. The former of these names is the more common. This chapter gives a wonderful description of these temples. While the author traveled across, he took a view of these temples. Here, the author explains that while he traveled, a torrent of sand that poured over the mountains, and, nearly filling the space between the two prominences in which these temples are excavated, had half concealed the front of the greater temple. This chapter first describes the northern, or smaller, temple and then proceeds to the description of the other temples situated in Ab'oo Sim'bil or Absem'bel.
Keywords: Ferey'ck, Ab'oo Sim'bil, Absem'bel, greater temple, northern temple
