Cradle-to-Cradle and Innovation
This chapter explores the cradle-to-cradle (C2C) concept and its practicality for promoting sustainable product development. It suggests ways to apply the third principle of the C2C concept, respecting diversity. To investigate the practicality of the C2C concept, two points of criticism associated with its application are discussed along with the various challenges that can hinder its application and potential solutions to these challenges. Environmental sustainability can be achieved through innovation. The chapter explores various definitions for innovation and eco-innovation as well as different types and approaches of innovation. It also identifies the factors that can affect eco-innovation and the challenges of integrating it into environmental sustainability.
