Karakhamun held ten titles—both ranking and laudatory titles—which suggest he was a person of high status. However, the titles provide little information on his role in Thebes, or from what he derived his status. This chapter argues that this suggests he earned his status outside the existing Egyptian administration and thus was given titles that did not entail specific roles or responsibilities, but confirmed just his high status.
