This bok comprises chapters that were presented as research papers at a conference organized by the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES) in Cairo on November 21–22, 2006. Its purpose was twofold: to address a wide range of economic challenges centered around macroeconomic and labor policies in Egypt, as well as to focus on specific sectoral issues related to energy and healthcare. The aim was also to evaluate the impact of recent reform policies and highlight priority areas for further reform. An overview of the subsequent chapters is presented.
