The texts of Shenoute's Canon 8 are very hard to understand and often seem to be at the very limit of comprehension. This chapter explores two aspects of Canon 8. First it looks at the manuscript witnesses and their codicological and textual relevance. Second, it analyzes a few of Shenoute's themes, which can serve to guide us through the meanderings of his discourse.
