This chapter examines the Coptic manuscripts and literature based on evidence found in Fayoum Oasis in Egypt. It describes the causes of the poor survival of the Fayoumic manuscripts and provides an overview of the different categories of the surviving literature, both edited and unedited. The analysis reveals that the remnants of the literature in this dialect show that there was an original and very ancient production.
